Zoning Board denies rehearing for car garage variance at historic barn
Zoning Board · Meeting of February 2, 2026
NH PETERBOROUGH — Peterborough Zoning Board denies rehearing on historic property car garage variance. The Board voted 4-1 on February 2 to reject Case Number 1319's rehearing request, finding no new evidence or errors in its earlier decision to deny a car garage variance at the historic Old Stone Barn. Board member Daron Janis supported rehearing on the grounds that the Town's Master Plan identifies the barn as a key historic asset requiring preservation-friendly zoning, but Chair Chris DiLoreto countered that approximately 100 residents opposed the car garage proposal and that community opposition must factor into the Board's deliberations.
The Board indicated it would support alternative uses such as a bed and breakfast, which is permitted as a conditional use.
