Conservation Commission clears path for Sand Hill barn project

NH PETERBOROUGH — Peterborough Conservation Commission charts path for two major Wetland Protection projects. The Commission determined that a 2,347-square-foot wetland at 343 Sand Hill Road lacks hydrologic connection to a town-jurisdictional wetland and may not require a variance, pending Code Officer Tim Herlihy's review. For a 0.71-megawatt solar facility at 538 Greenfield Road, scaled from 1.259 megawatts, the Commission recommended the field not be stumped or graded to preserve native soils and wildlife habitat, and suggested planting with a pollinator-friendly wildflower and grass mix.
Francie Von Mertens will submit recommendations to the Planning Board noting the project's reduced footprint and revegetation strategy as key mitigating factors.
